Growing Pains

Powpow Comics is a very frustrating website to visit, just as a whole.  I think we can all agree on that.  So many different layout changes, comic re-uploadings, yadda yadda yadda.  Between you and me, I was perfectly content with what I had going on just a few months ago with a strictly black-and-white, no frills, just straight-up-comic-strip-and-that's-it business.  Unfortunately, the actual setup we had behind that simple page was a load of overly complicated garbage that, frankly, we didn't need to mess around with anymore.  So after weeks and weeks and weeks of screwing around, starting up different layouts and reverting back to old ones, we finally hit on something that works.

And between you and me, I hope we stick with what we have now for a long, long time.

My name is Brooks M Williams (author and illustrator of what you see above you), and as you can probably surmise, I'm a very simple soul.  All I want is a place where I can slap my newest updates and sit back to see what the feedback is like for that day.  I'm not one for bells and whistles, as you can also probably surmise from my use of the phrase 'bells and whistles'.  All I want is a small community of comic readers and comic makers all working in harmony to bring forth the latest and greatest.  Maybe this site will be the one to stick and all that will FINALLY happen, after years of waiting.  I have my fingers crossed. 

So here's what's on our plate for this coming month: getting the entire archive of Facebrooks re-uploaded (again).  Getting up the entire pile of new Facebrooks strips that I've been drawing since the site has been in a transitional phase (at LEAST 50+ comics for the first round alone).  Setting up the new Facebrooks spin-off strip Facebrooks: Status Updates, which will update daily for the first week and then once a week after that.  So as long as you're a Facebrooks fan, you'll be sitting pretty once everything is locked and loaded.  If you're a fan of our Facebook page, which is in sore need of an update, you've probably spotted the first 2 or 3 strips from that spinoff already.  That's just a tiny taste of what's to come.  As I've mentioned before, several times, I have big plans for this stuff.  I don't look at what an autobiography can accomplish and just settle with that - I want to expand past it and make it my own thing.  Hopefully all this stuff will fall right into that line of thinking.

Now, I'm not Rodriguez Steven, so I can't sit here and list off his plans, but he's been talking a pretty big game ever since the site was rebooted for the billionth time, so I'm not going to take that lightly.  If you're curious about what he's going to be doing, wait it out for his blog post, I suppose. 

We also have quite a few combination projects in the works, but with these ever-changing times, who knows how that'll all fall together.  I'll cross my fingers on that stuff too.

I love sharing what I create, and I hope when this place gets to running the way we want it to that it'll be a great place to do so.  It's hard to get an audience savvy to what you're doing if you keep rebooting the site every other month... so as I said before, here's to the new site's clean bill of health.  And here's to hoping that health continues forever.
